Graduate careersWith ICT skills, the likelihood of being employed is high. At the time of writing, many ICT-related job vacancies remain unfilled because there are not enough applicants. This trend is expected to continue over the next five years as fewer people will graduate while the demand will remain high.
Generally speaking, there are five education and training options related to the ICT industry: ƒ On-the-job Training: this includes inductions and in-house training programs. ƒ VET Programs: including certificates I-IV, diplomas and vocational graduate certificates offered by organisations such as TAFEs and private training colleges. ƒ University Programs: including undergraduate degrees, degrees with honours, graduate diplomas and masters qualifications. ƒ Vendor/Signature Training: related to specific products delivered by a range of organisations including private training colleges and vendors themselves. ƒ Ongoing Professional Development: this is usually run by professional associations or industry groups; some of these have prerequisite qualifications or experience.
